A study released by Kaiser Permanente says that patients are eager to use secure e-mails to communicate with their doctors.
It also showed that patients who use secure e-mail were 7 to 10 percent less likely to schedule an office visit, which could be seen as a negative for patient volume. But that may be offset by efficiency gains considering these patients are 14 percent less likely to try to contact their doctors by phone.
