MGMA: Doctors’ income rise below inflation
If you think you made less in 2006 than in the year before even though you worked harder, you may be right.
The Medical Group Management Association (MGMA) Physician Compensation and Production Survey found that in 2006 primary care physicians reported a 3.7 percent increase in production while their median compensation rose just 2 percent to $171,519. This is less than the 3.2 percent inflation increase that same year.
Specialists reported even an even lower rate of median compensation gains — a 1.7 percent overall increase to $322,259. Their increase in production was 2.3 percent overall.
